Uzbekistan intends to further develop cooperation with the UAE and Saudi Arabia

During the meetings of the delegations of these states with the President of Uzbekistan, plans were discussed for the further development of cooperation in a number of areas.

On March 24, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with delegations from the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who were in Tashkent as participants in the international investment forum, the press service of the head of state reports.

During the conversation between the President and members of the UAE delegation and the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suheil al-Mazrui, the head of the meeting discussed the prospects for building up mutually beneficial partnerships in trade, economic, transport, logistics and investment areas, as well as in the agro-industrial sector.

Of particular interest is cooperation in the field of “green” energy: the Emirati company Masdar is engaged in the construction of wind and solar power plants in Uzbekistan.

On the same day, Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Minister of Investments of Saudi Arabia Khalid al-Falih.

The key area between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia is the energy industry. In this context, the parties noted the contribution to the modernization of the energy infrastructure and the development of “green” energy in Uzbekistan by the ACWA Corporation. The cost of the projects in which she takes part is 2.7 billion dollars.

During the meeting with the delegation of Saudi Arabia, the prospects for cooperation in the oil and gas, petrochemical and mining industries, agriculture, as well as medicine and the pharmaceutical industry were touched upon.
