UAE representative to arrive in Baku to lay the foundation of a $200 million project

Today Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates Suheil Mohammed al-Mazrui will arrive in Azerbaijan on a visit.

Report informs, the purpose of the visit is to participate in the laying ceremony of the solar energy park in Azerbaijan.

The event is scheduled for tomorrow.

Mohammed Jameel Al-Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar, will also arrive in Azerbaijan along with the Prime Minister of the UAE.

On April 6 last year, the Ministry of Energy and Azerenergy OJSC signed with Masdar an “Investment Agreement”, an “Energy Purchase and Sale Agreement” and a “Transmission Grid Connection Agreement” for a 230 MW solar power plant (HPP) project.

From the Azerbaijani side, the document was signed by Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov, President of Azerenerji Baba Rzayev, and from Masdar – M. J. Al Ramahi. The solar power plant will produce 500 million kWh of electricity per year, save 110 million cubic meters of natural gas, reduce carbon emissions by 200,000 tons, and create new jobs. The cost of the project is 200 million US dollars. The station will be integrated into the power system by connecting to the Yuzhnaya substation.
