The trade turnover between Belarus and the UAE has more than tripled over the past five years. Economy Minister Alexander Chervyakov said this during the opening ceremony of the National Day of Belarus at the EXPO-2020 World Exhibition in Dubai, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus and the United Arab Emirates have the closest relations. The history of diplomatic relations goes back over 30 years. Today the UAE is an important trade partner for us in the Gulf region, a significant investor in the Belarusian economy. Over the past five years, trade has more than tripled. The volume of bilateral trade in services is growing steadily. We will continue to strive for mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of trade, ”said Alexander Chervyakov.

According to him, the inflow of investments from the UAE to Belarus is increasing. “Since 2016, volumes have almost quadrupled. These trends indicate an increase in investor interest in Belarus. And we are not standing still. We already have plans to implement new, very ambitious projects that will allow us to consolidate the previously achieved results in investment cooperation, ”the minister explained.

Within the framework of the exhibition, Belarus has set itself the task of maximizing the investment and innovation opportunities of the country. “The Belarusian pavilion presents our latest achievements in economics, science and culture. The exposition tells about the natural diversity of our country, how advanced technologies and high environmental standards are being introduced, while national traditions are carefully preserved. I am sure that the Belarusian exposition will become an effective platform for meetings and negotiations not only with our partners from the UAE, but also with other participating states. Belarus is open to everyone, so we initiated a Belarusian investment forum within the framework of the National Day. This event will allow us to acquaint a wide range of participants with our country, to present investment potential, as well as prospects for cooperation, and most importantly, to reach agreements on the implementation of joint projects that will bring new technologies, new products, knowledge and experience to the world. Participants and visitors of the exhibition from different parts of the world have the opportunity to evaluate the national identity of Belarus, its historical and cultural heritage, sporting achievements, folk art, cuisine and traditions, ”stated the head of the economic department.
