Kyrgyzstan is a member of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Eurasian Economic Union, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Turkic Council, the TURKSOY organization and the United Nations.
Kyrgyz make up the majority of the country’s population, with the largest ethnic minorities being Uzbeks and Russians.
The majority of the population is Sunni Muslim.
