The capital and largest city of the state is Minsk.

The official languages are Belarusian and Russian. It is Unitary presidential Republic.

It is divided into 6 regions; the city of Minsk is a separate administrative-territorial unit and has a special status of a city of republican subordination.
GDP at purchasing power parity in 2019 was $ 200.839 billion (about $ 21,350 per capita). The currency is the Belarusian ruble.

The date of the emergence of Belarusian statehood is considered to be January 1, 1919, when the Manifesto of the Provisional Workers ‘and Peasants’ Government of Belarus proclaimed the Belarusian Socialist Soviet Republic as part of the RSFSR.
