Dubai hosted SME Forum Azerbaijan – UAE
On March 29, the 11th Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) will begin in Dubai (UAE) on the theme “Investing in sustainable innovation for a brighter future”. Traditionally, conferences, meetings between government officials, businessmen, as well as exhibitions and other events are organized within the framework of the annual event, Trend reports on Monday.
As part of the annual investment conference, on March 28, the Azerbaijan-UAE Small and Medium Business (SME) Forum was held in the Azerbaijani pavilion at the Dubai Expo 2020 exhibition. The purpose of the event, organized by the Azerbaijan SME Development Agency with the support of NEGSOL Holding, is to discuss opportunities for SMEs, provide a common platform for communication and exchange of ideas in this area.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan Sahil Babayev informed about the social reforms being carried out in the country, the self-employment program, the activities of DOST centers, and the mechanisms for electronic assignment of social payments.
Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan SME Development Agency Orkhan Mammadov spoke about trade and economic relations between Azerbaijan and the UAE, cooperation in the field of SMEs with the relevant departments of the UAE, support provided by the agency to local and foreign businessmen.
Omar Khan, head of the International Relations Department of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stressed at the event that Azerbaijan and the UAE have great potential for cooperation in the field of SMEs, noted that the Chamber is ready to support joint initiatives in this direction.
Other representatives of the Azerbaijani delegation, as well as representatives of business associations and businessmen from different countries, shared their views on joint business initiatives, the role of digitalization in economic development in their speeches
On the same day, the Agency for the Development of SMEs organized a seminar on the topic “Mechanisms for supporting SMEs in the post-pandemic period: the effectiveness of public-private dialogue”.
