Aurus showroom may open in the UAE

The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said that the start of the assembly of Aurus in the UAE is possible after the start of production of Aurus Komendant SUVs, which is scheduled for next year.

ABU DHABI, November 18. / TASS /. Russia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) discussed the possibility of opening a showroom for premium cars Aurus in the Emirates, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov told reporters.

“We just discussed – the idea itself came to our minds recently,” he said, noting that a decision on the location of such a showroom has not yet been made. “So far, these are some sketches, but we believe that this is a good premise and idea in itself – to create such international showrooms,” the minister said.

He also said that the start of Aurus pre-assembly in the UAE is possible after the start of production of Aurus Komendant SUVs, which is scheduled for next year.

“I think it will be possible when we start production of SUVs, because SUVs are in great demand in the region of Asia and the Middle East,” he said. The minister added that it is planned to start with a customization center for various Aurus models – Senat, Komendant and limousine.

Answering the question about the possibility of opening showrooms in other countries, Manturov said: “It seems to me that it would be logical to start with the Emirates, because this is the center of business activity in Asia, the Middle East and these are our industrial and strategic partners.” Then it is possible to open in one of the countries of Southeast Asia, he added.

In 2019, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade also announced his intention to organize the production of certain models of the Aurus line in the United Arab Emirates.

One of the shareholders of the Aurus project is the Emirati holding Tawazun. As Aurus CEO Adil Shirinov said, Tawazun will start supplying Aurus Senat to the Middle East in 2022. From 70% to 80% of Aurus cars are planned to be exported by 2030, priority is given to the countries of the Middle East and North Africa, then China and Western Europe.

Aurus is the first Russian premium car brand created from scratch by NAMI specialists. The minimum price for Aurus Senat will be 18 million rubles. As previously reported, cars of the first production batch will be presented only with a high level of optional execution, the price for them will reach 24 million rubles.

Serial production of Aurus cars began at the end of May in Tatarstan. The shareholders of Aurus are FSUE NAMI (63.5%), the UAE Defense, Security and Development Fund Tawazun (36%) and Sollers (0.5%).
