Armenian President discusses issues of cooperation with UAE Foreign Minister
The Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates showed interest in expanding an effective and mutually beneficial partnership with Armenia.
Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, who is on a working visit to the United Arab Emirates, discussed issues of cooperation with the country’s Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan. This was reported by the press service of the President of Armenia on Sunday. It is noted that the agenda of the talks included issues of regional security and stability.
During the meeting, Sarkissian presented the situation and problems facing Armenia to the UAE Foreign Minister, and also touched upon the Nagorno-Karabakh problem. Speaking about the humanitarian problems that arose as a result of the 44-day war, the President of Armenia noted that Azerbaijan continues to hold prisoners of war and civilian hostages. Yerevan also counts on the assistance of international partners to solve this problem as soon as possible, Sargsyan said.
Touching upon bilateral relations, the interlocutors noted that the high level of political dialogue between Armenia and the UAE creates an opportunity for mutually beneficial economic and investment cooperation.
The UAE Foreign Minister expressed interest in expanding effective and mutually beneficial cooperation with Armenia in such areas as energy, information technology, food safety, and tourism. He also expressed his readiness to pay a visit to Yerevan. Recall that the last time Sargsyan paid a working visit to the UAE in October 2021.
